Volleyball Recap: Hickory Hawks vs. Cox Falcons

Hickory and Cox squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Hickory had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 3-2. While the Hawks didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Falcons 25-18 in the first set.

Hickory started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 18-25, 25-27, 25-15, 25-13, 15-8.

Caroline Carter paced Hickory's offense, picking up nine kills. Carter got some help from Kyla Goode and her 13 assists. Carter was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

June Culicerto was the offensive standout of the match as she had 18 digs and two aces. She has been hot recently, having posted 18 or more digs the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kynleigh Castellat, who had four digs and four aces.
