Football Game Preview: Buena Vista Bison vs. Omaha North Vikings

The Buena Vista Bison will venture away from home to face off against the Omaha North Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

As a matter of fact, Buena Vista put up the most points they have all season on Friday. Their defense stepped up to hand Bellevue West a 65-0 shutout. The Bison pushed the score to 58-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Thunderbirds had no chance of recovering from.

Meanwhile, Omaha North humbled Lincoln Northeast with a 42-7 victory. The game marked the Vikings' most dominant win of the season so far.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Michael Valencia and Jaron Cannon. Valencia rushed for 110 yards and three scores on only nine carries while Cannon rushed for 136 yards and a pair of TDs on only 14 carries. Cannon's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his eighth straight game with at least 104 rushing yards dating back to last season. Another big playmaker for Omaha North was Darion Jones, who returned a punt for a touchdown.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Omaha North proved: they limited Lincoln Northeast to a paltry three yards per carry. The team can thank Marquise McIntyre-Dailey for the heroic effort on defense: he. Omaha North hasn't allowed more than 4.8 yards per carry in three consecutive contests.

Special teams played a big role in the game for Omaha North, adding 12 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Jones, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Omaha North now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Buena Vista, their record is now 2-3.

Buena Vista was taken down by Omaha North 57-0 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Bison avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
