Football Recap: Pensacola Takes a Loss + How To Watch

After flying high against Destin two weeks ago, Pensacola came back down to earth. The Tigers took a hard 47-28 fall against the Bay Tornadoes on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 315th, while the Tornadoes are ranked 94th).

When it comes to explaining why Pensacola lost, don't look at Jamarcuz Fountain. Despite the final result, he threw for 233 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 94 yards and one score on only 11 carries. 85 of Fountain's passing yards were hauled in by Josh Quiles, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Bay got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was MJ Wilkkerson out in front who rushed for 84 yards and two TDs. Those two rushing touchdowns gave Wilkkerson a new career-high. Javar Bowden was another key player, picking up 100 receiving yards and one score.

Pensacola's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Bay, their record now sits at 5-1.

Coming up, Pensacola will take on Booker T. Washington at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. The Wildcats' defense has only allowed 14.2 points per game this season, so the Tigers' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Bay, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on West Florida at 7:00 p.m. on October 10.
