Basketball Recap: Vance Charter Comes Up Short

Vance Charter lost against Falls Lake back in November, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Vance Charter Knights received a blow as they fell 48-34 to the Falls Lake Firebirds. The Knights just can't catch a break and have now endured four defeats in a row.

Leading Falls Lake to victory were Jeneen Mason and Destiny Williams. Mason posted 14 points along with five boards and three steals, while Williams dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Williams also grabbed five steals, which is notable because Falls Lake is 4-1 when she posts at least five steals, but 2-3 otherwise. Madisyn Shedd was another key player, putting up five points.

Vance Charter's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Falls Lake, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vance Charter won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Roxboro Community at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Roxboro Community will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something Vance Charter surely won't give up without a fight. As for Falls Lake, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll square off against Bunn at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Falls Lake is facing Bunn at the right time seeing as Bunn is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
