Baseball Recap: Maria Carrillo Takes a Loss

Maria Carrillo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 14th straight loss. They fell 3-0 to the Cardinal Newman Cardinals. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Pumas of the 11-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

Maria Carrillo got a good showing from Tysen Norlund, who tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Norlund has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances.

Maria Carrillo's record now sits at 5-17. As for Cardinal Newman, the win got them back to even at 11-11.

While Maria Carrillo had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
