Baseball Game Preview: East Dubuque Warriors vs. River Ridge/Scales Mound Wildcats

East Dubuque is 8-2 against River Ridge/Scales Mound since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Warriors will challenge the Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. East Dubuque is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

On Monday, East Dubuque didn't have quite enough to beat St. Bede and fell 5-4.

Meanwhile, River Ridge/Scales Mound unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Monday. They lost 11-3 to Lena-Winslow. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Wildcats have suffered since April 13, 2024.

Sam Rife put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Rife wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Aidan Soppe, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. That stolen base was Soppe's first of the season.

East Dubuque now has a losing record of 5-6-1. As for River Ridge/Scales Mound, their record now sits at 7-6.

East Dubuque skirted past River Ridge/Scales Mound 5-4 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
