Soccer Game Preview: Ketchikan vs. Homer

The Ketchikan Kings will take on the Homer Mariners on Friday. Ketchikan's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Ketchikan is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: Palmer, who was ranked second at the time (Ketchikan was ranked 13th). The Kings came up short against the Moose on Friday, falling 6-0. The matchup was up for grabs at halftime, but sadly Ketchikan struggled afterwards.

Meanwhile, Homer fell victim to Soldotna and their airtight defense on Saturday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Stars. Homer haven't had much luck with Soldotna recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Ketchikan's loss dropped their record down to 1-5-1. As for Homer, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Ketchikan beat Homer 2-0 in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Will the Kings repeat their success, or do the Mariners have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
