Baseball Recap: Redlands East Valley Extends Winning Streak to Three

Redlands East Valley waltzed into their game on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Shadow Hills Knights 7-0. The Wildcats have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Knights, too.

The result came thanks to Caleb Jamroz's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up six Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Redlands East Valley is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 3-4 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Eric Rivera, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4. Those stolen bases marked the first that he snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alan Gibbons, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

The win got Redlands East Valley back to even at 5-5. As for Shadow Hills, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Redlands East Valley will welcome Redlands at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Redlands' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Redlands East Valley's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Shadow Hills, they will square off against Palm Desert at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Palm Desert 2.9, Shadow Hills 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
