Football Preview: Sonora Broncos vs. Stamford Bulldogs
The Sonora Broncos will head out to face off against the Stamford Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Sonora is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Colorado on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Broncos were dealt a 42-12 defeat at the hands of the Wolves. Having soared to a lofty 38 points in the game before, the Broncos couldn't push the score so high this time.
Although Sonora took the loss, they still got scores from Brain Vasquez and Evan Arredondo.
Meanwhile, Stamford unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 36-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hawley. Despite 184 more yards than the Bearcats, the Bulldogs couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
Stamford didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Slayden Young and Ace Martinez.
Sonora's record now sits at 7-3. As for Stamford, their record is now 6-4.
Sonora was dealt a bruising 45-8 loss at the hands of Stamford in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. Thankfully for the Broncos, Christian Duran (who threw for 221 yards and a pair of touchdowns on perfect 12-for-12 passing, and also punched in two scores on the ground) won't be suiting up this time.
