Basketball Recap: Smyrna's Losing Streak Snapped at Three Games + How To Watch

Smyrna can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They came out on top against the LEAD Academy Panthers by a score of 74-62. The Bulldogs pushed the score to 59-38 by the end of the third, a deficit the Panthers cut but never quite recovered from.

Smyrna had a senior duo take command as Elliyon Kinzer shot 45% from the field on his way to 25 points and six steals and Kaden Matthews went 8-for-16 to rack up 22 points along with six boards and three steals. Kinzer's evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. Darius Mahacek also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Smyrna was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Smyrna picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 2-3. As for LEAD Academy, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-5.

Looking ahead, Smyrna will square off against Oakwood Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for LEAD Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Maplewood at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. LEAD Academy will be up against Maplewood's rather soft defense (which has allowed 64 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
