Baseball Game Preview: Wekiva Mustangs vs. Gateway Panthers

The Wekiva Mustangs will head out on the road to take on the Gateway Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Wekiva came up into this matchup off a tough 25-run defeat on Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Legacy Charter by a score of 8-6 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Mustangs have suffered since April 5, 2024.

Brady Reinert made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (three).

Meanwhile, Gateway posted their biggest win since February 27, 2024 on Thursday. They put the hurt on Poinciana with a sharp 11-1 victory.

Diego Vazqueztell made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Vazqueztell was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ian Colon, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Kaleb Bermudez was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

The win got Gateway back to even at 1-1. As for Wekiva, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.
