Basketball Recap: South Gwinnett Takes a Loss

South Gwinnett and Hillgrove squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but South Gwinnett had to settle for second. They had to suffer through a 71-44 loss at the hands of the Hillgrove Hawks. The Comets' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Hillgrove was led to victory by Yolanda Floyd and Kierra Jackson. Floyd went 7-for-17 to rack up 21 points and four steals, while Jackson went 6-for-12 on her way to 17 points and four steals. What's more, Jackson also posted a 50% shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in December of 2024. Aeris Macon was another key player, putting up nine points and five rebounds.

South Gwinnett's defeat dropped their record down to 8-15. As for Hillgrove, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 21-7.

South Gwinnett does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hillgrove, they will square off against Brookwood on Friday. Hillgrove is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.5 points per game this season.
