Basketball Game Preview: Pell City Panthers vs. Homewood Patriots

The Pell City Panthers will challenge the Homewood Patriots at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pell City will be strutting in after a victory while Homewood will be coming in after a defeat.

Pell City had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They enjoyed a cozy 48-34 win over Huntsville on Saturday.

Among those leading the charge was Zaniya Mitchell, who went 8-for-15 to rack up 20 points and five steals. That's the most points she has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Rains, who had four points and seven rebounds.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Homewood and Northridge, and Northridge kept the tradition alive. The Patriots were outmatched by the Jaguars and fell 63-33. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Patriots have suffered since December 20, 2024.

Things could have been worse for Pell City, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 46-28 loss to Homewood when the teams last played back in February of 2020. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
