Basketball Recap: Hawkinsville's Victory on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Five

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Hawkinsville had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They strolled past the Jenkins County War Eagles with points to spare, taking the game 60-46. The win was familiar territory for the Red Devils, who have now won five contests in a row.

It was another big night for Bryson Singletary, who posted 17 points and five rebounds. The matchup was his fourth in a row with at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamari Blackshear, who earned seven points along with seven steals and five assists.

Loss or not, Jenkins County got some senior leadership from Tyler Williams and James Allen. Williams shot 71% from the field en route to 18 points and six boards, while Allen went 5-for-11 to rack up 14 points in addition to eight rebounds and five assists. Allen also grabbed three steals, which is notable because Jenkins County is 3-1 when he posts at least three steals, but 10-14 otherwise. Javarius Gilmore was another key player, putting up six points and 13 boards.

Hawkinsville's victory bumped their record up to 16-11. As for Jenkins County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-15.

Hawkinsville didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 65-56 win against Chattahoochee County on the 22nd. Jenkins County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
