Basketball Recap: Apollo Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Richfield, Apollo was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They walked away with a 79-70 win over the Fridley Tigers. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 155th, while the Tigers are ranked 359th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Apollo now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Fridley, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Apollo will look to defend their home court on Friday against Brainerd at 7:00 p.m. Apollo has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 248 points over their last three matches. As for Fridley, they will take on Rock Ridge co-op [Eveleth-Gilbert/Virginia] at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Fridley's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four games.
