Football Game Preview: El Paso-Gridley Titans vs. Newman Central Catholic Comets + How To Watch

The El Paso-Gridley Titans will face off against the Newman Central Catholic Comets at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

El Paso-Gridley is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 43-20 margin over Chicago Marshall. The Titans' win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead El Paso-Gridley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Owen Adams, who rushed for seven yards and two scores, and also threw for 97 yards and a pair of TDs. Those two rushing touchdowns gave Adams a new career-high. Braden Gibson was another key player, picking up 49 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something El Paso-Gridley proved: they limited Chicago Marshall to a paltry 1.7 yards per carry. The Titans' ground attack was stronger, having averaged 4.6.

El Paso-Gridley didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Chavon Maxon and Gibson.

Meanwhile, after only seven points in their last contest, Newman Central Catholic made sure to put some points up on the board against Ridgeview/Lexington on Saturday. The Comets claimed a resounding 43-8 victory over the Mustangs.

El Paso-Gridley's win bumped their record up to 10-0. As for Newman Central Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2.
