Preview: Edison Vikings vs. Clovis East Timberwolves

The Edison Vikings and the Clovis East Timberwolves will round out the year against one another at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday at. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Edison has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Clovis East will arrive with three straight wins.

Edison's 22-6 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They fell just short of Lodi by a score of 56-53. While losing is never fun, Edison can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 528th, while Lodi is ranked 138th).

Edison's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Damarcus Cobb Jr, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 11 rebounds, and Tytus Billingsly who scored 11 points. Cobb Jr scored a full 50.9% of Edison's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Meanwhile, Clovis East was fully in charge on Thursday, breezing past Lincoln 70-41 at home. 70 seems to be a good number for Clovis East as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.

Edison's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Clovis East, their win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 9-3.

Edison didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Clovis East in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 66-62 victory. Does Edison have another victory up their sleeve, or will Clovis East turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
