Football Game Preview: South Wake Lions vs. North Wake S Saints

South Wake is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Friday. They will venture away from home to square off against the North Wake S Saints at 7:00 p.m. South Wake comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

South Wake is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against SouthLake Christian Academy on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Lions were outmatched by the Eagles and fell 41-6. The Lions were already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for North Wake S, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They claimed a resounding 36-0 win over Wayne Preparatory Academy. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Saints' offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

North Wake S' defense made their presence known, laying out the QB ten times. The heavy lifting was done by AJ Tunney and Matthew Sparzak, who racked up six sacks between them.

South Wake's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for North Wake S, their victory bumped their record up to 2-8.

South Wake didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against North Wake S when the teams last played back in November of 2024, but they still walked away with a 10-6 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
