Softball Recap: Ridgeland Has No Trouble Against Northwest Whitfield

Ridgeland came out on top against Northwest Whitfield on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fifth inning. The Panthers put the hurt on the Bruins with a sharp 8-2 victory. That six run margin sets a new team best for the Panthers this season.

Chesney Pritchett made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Pritchett was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Erica Choice and Kailynn Bailey did most of the damage at the plate: Choice went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Bailey went 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple. That triple was Bailey's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alaina Shaver, who went 3-for-5 with one run and one RBI.

Ridgeland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Ridgeland now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Northwest Whitfield, they dropped their record down to 2-6 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.
