Football Recap: St. Johns Redskins vs. Round Valley Elks
St. Johns fell victim to Round Valley and their airtight defense on Friday. They were outmatched by the Round Valley Elks on the road and fell 36-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Redskins of the 37-8 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2023.
St. Johns wouldn't let Round Valley keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Jude Raban was the leader in that area as all came courtesy of his dominant performance.
A big part of Round Valley's victory came down to the chemistry between Connor Lueker and his top target Kage Finch. Lueker rushed for 145 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.1 yards per carry while Finch gained 127 total yards and two touchdowns. Finch got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 66 yards.
St. Johns' loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Round Valley, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
St. Johns will take on Holbrook at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Round Valley, they will face off against Thatcher at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Round Valley will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak dating back to last season alive.
