Volleyball Recap: North Fork Miners vs. Montezuma-Cortez Panthers
North Fork proved they can win big on Friday (they won by three) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Montezuma-Cortez Panthers 3-2.
North Fork was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (104-101), but they still managed to win. The final score came out to 15-25, 25-20, 21-25, 25-21, 15-13.
Laynee Zeldenthuis paced North Fork's offense, picking up 12 kills. Zeldenthuis got some help from Saydee Allen and her 36 assists. Evie DeTienne controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.
When it comes to explaining why Montezuma-Cortez lost, don't look at Aubrie Matthias. Despite the final result, she had 16 digs and two aces. Mikayla Pena was another key player, getting nine digs and three aces.
