Football Game Preview: Akron Rams vs. Sanford Mustangs + How To Watch

The Akron Rams will challenge the Sanford Mustangs at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Akron sitting on 11 straight wins and Sanford on eight.

Akron is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 62-26 victory over Mancos. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by 26 points or more this season.

Akron's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kolten Randel led the charge by rushing for 86 yards and two TDs on only nine carries, while also throwing for 82 yards and four touchdowns. That's the most rushing yards Randel has posted since back in September. Jace Curtis was another key player, gaining 191 total yards and three touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Akron was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 320 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Akron didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off five passes before the game was over. Randel led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sanford). They blew past Dayspring Christian Academy, posting a 71-42 win. The Mustangs are also no stranger to big wins: their blowout on Saturday was the ninth contest they've won by 20+ points this season.
