Basketball Recap: Wasco Comes Up Short

Wasco extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 16 on Friday, dropping them down to 0-3. They came up short against the East Bakersfield Blades, falling 50-27. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 65-39 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.

East Bakersfield's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

East Bakersfield found their leader in sophomore Nicholas Hackney, who shot 60% from the field en route to 20 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hackney has scored all season. Adrian Martinez also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.

Wasco has already played their next matchup, a 49-26 defeat against Kern Valley on the 22nd. As for East Bakersfield, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 52-36 loss against Corcoran on the 22nd.
