The Adena Warriors are taking a road trip to take on the Ironton Fighting Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Friday, Adena beat North Adams 6-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Warriors.
Allie Bossert spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, Adena's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kimmy Dalton, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Ironton never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by an 18-0 margin over Huntington. The Fighting Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 contests by six runs or more this season.
Ava Bihl made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than 12 strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one triple and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Ironton got a massive performance out of Olivia Wilson, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most hits Wilson has posted since back in April. Khamil Martin was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Ironton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive games.
Adena's record now sits at 20-8. As for Ironton, their record is now 18-6.
Adena couldn't quite get it done against Ironton when the teams last played back in May of 2022 as they fell 6-3. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
