Volleyball Recap: West Boca Raton Comes Up Short

West Boca Raton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the NSU University Sharks. The Bulls were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Sharks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

West Boca Raton wouldn't go down easily and took NSU University into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking four-point loss. The final score came out to 22-25, 25-12, 25-20, 18-25, 15-11.

Despite the defeat, West Boca Raton saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Sofia Maldonado had 21 assists and 11 digs. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Khoury, who had 13 assists and eight digs.

West Boca Raton's loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for NSU University, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.

West Boca Raton will head out to face off against Spanish River at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for NSU University, after both having extra time off, they and Gulliver Prep will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
