Softball Recap: Columbine Extends Winning Streak to Four

Columbine came tearing into Saturday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 9-6 win over the Valor Christian Eagles. That's more bragging rights for the Rebels, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Addison Swenby made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Swenby was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Those two hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Olivia Keiter, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. Nina Vargas also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Columbine's victory bumped their record up to 10-4. As for Valor Christian, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 7-6.
