Recap: Atlantic Sharks vs. Matanzas Pirates
The Atlantic Sharks lost to the Matanzas Pirates back in December of 2023, but the Atlantic Sharks didn't allow the Matanzas Pirates the same satisfaction on Thursday. Atlantic came out on top against Matanzas by a score of 41-31. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Atlantic.
Atlantic's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aurielle Reavis led the charge by dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten steals. Reavis has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. Another player making a difference was Aalaiah Jones, who scored four points along with five rebounds and five steals.
The victory got Atlantic back to even at 8-8. As for Matanzas, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-15.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Atlantic's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Mainland at 1:00 p.m. on January 20th. Mainland is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Matanzas, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Florida School for the Deaf & Blind at 6:00 p.m.
