Baseball Recap: Italy's Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

After low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, Italy brought some dynamite into their most recent matchup. They walked away with a 15-11 win over the Frost Polar Bears on Tuesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Gladiators as it spelled an end to their eight-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Grayson Jones, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Trent Connor, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Jones wasn't the only one making solid contact: Italy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Italy's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-14. As for Frost, they suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 5-3-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Italy will head out to challenge Rio Vista at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Frost, they will venture away from home to take on Live Oak Classical at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
