Volleyball Recap: Meridian Mustangs vs. High Plains Storm
Meridian lost against High Plains back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Mustangs fell just short of the Storm by a score of 3-2. While the Mustangs didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Storm 25-12 in the first set.
Meridian actually scored more points across those five sets (102-95), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 12-25, 18-25, 25-23, 25-17, 15-12.
Jetta Stewart paced Meridian's offense, picking up 24 kills. Stewart got some help from Olivia Schafer and her 31 assists. Kenzie Kumpf controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.
Tessa Morris went supernova For High Plains., getting 19 digs. That's the most digs Morris has posted over her last 11 matchups. Another player making a difference was Kenslei Carlson, who had 11 digs.
Meridian's defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for High Plains, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-9.
Meridian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Deshler on the 9th. As for High Plains, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-1 win against Sandy Creek on the 9th.
