Football Game Preview: Sipsey Valley Bears vs. Selma Saints + Official Tickets

The Sipsey Valley Bears will head out on the road to challenge the Selma Saints at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Selma took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Sipsey Valley, who comes in off a win.

Sipsey Valley not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since August 22nd (when they won 69-6). They breezed past Montevallo to the tune of 62-28. The Bears pushed the score to 49-14 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bulldogs cut but never quite recovered from.

Isaiah Bennett had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 263 yards and three scores while picking up 14.6 yards per carry, and also picking up 48 receiving yards. Jayden Howard was another key player, rushing for 76 yards and three touchdowns on only six carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Sipsey Valley was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 444 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Selma lost 38-14 to Shelby County on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Saints in their meetings with the Wildcats: they've now lost three in a row.

Sipsey Valley now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Selma, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Everything came up roses for Sipsey Valley against Selma when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 40-6 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bears since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
