Meanwhile, Franklin faced Newton South in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Lions.

Franklin's win bumped their record up to 22-2. As for Newton North, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 22-2.

Everything went Newton North's way against Franklin in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as Newton North made off with a 3-0 win.
