Football Game Preview: Bethpage Golden Eagles vs. Wantagh Warriors

Bethpage hasn't had much luck against Wantagh recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Golden Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Warriors at 6:30 p.m. Bethpage is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Bethpage's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They claimed a resounding 27-0 victory over Hewlett. Given the Golden Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 95th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 356th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Wantagh lost to South Side at home by a 28-14 margin on Saturday. The matchup marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Bethpage will have to keep a close watch on Joe Nicholson and Devin Paccione, a pair of players who had a big impact on Wantagh's prior game. Nicholson gained 116 total yards and a touchdown, while Paccione gained 103 total yards and a touchdown.

Wantagh didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Luke Martini and Nicholson.

Bethpage's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Wantagh, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.

Bethpage was dealt a bruising 35-0 loss at the hands of Wantagh when the teams last played back in October of 2023. Thankfully for the Golden Eagles, Dylan Martini (who rushed for 171 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
