Baseball Game Preview: Piedmont Panthers vs. Carmel Christian Cougars

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Piedmont Panthers take on Carmel Christian Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Piedmont is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Piedmont fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Mount Pleasant on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 13-9 to the Tigers.

Piedmont got a good showing from Peyton Archer, who struck out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off four hits.

On the hitting side, Dallas Tucker was cooking despite his team's loss, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in home runs.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Carmel Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They put the hurt on Cannon with a sharp 14-2 victory on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what Carmel Christian needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

Ryan Field was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Daniel Williams, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Carmel Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cannon only posted a batting average of .154.

The win got Carmel Christian back to even at 1-1. As for Piedmont, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.
