Basketball Recap: River Valley Takes a Loss

River Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They fell 56-47 to the Highland Prep Honey Badgers. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Dust Devils this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 66-30 back in December of 2024.

Highland Prep's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Terrance Byrd led the charge by dropping a double-double on 17 points and 14 boards. Another player making a difference was Aeden Calini, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 19 rebounds.

River Valley's loss dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Highland Prep, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-7.

River Valley will head out to take on Chino Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Highland Prep, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Kingman at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
