Game recap: Woodland Regional High School Football Team defeats Torrington

TORRINGTON, Conn. - The defense contributed on the scoring end for Woodland Regional (Beacon Falls, Conn.) on Saturday, totaling 18 points as the Hawks bested Torrington (Conn.) 68-20.

After taking the lead on a Tanner Kingsley touchdown pass to Anthony Scirpo in the first quarter, the Hawks led 41-7 at the half.

Woodland Regional expanded its lead to 48 points entering the fourth quarter. WR scored three times in the third, including once on a Joe Fancher touchdown run.

The Beacon Falls school's standout player in the win was Scirpo. The senior wide receiver caught two touchdowns and kicked eight extra points. He has now scored 11 touchdowns on the season.

The Hawks got revenge for last year's 44-29 loss to the Red Raiders with the victory.



With the win Woodland Regional extended its winning streak to three games.

Torrington (2-4) will play a non-conference game against Derby next week, while Woodland Regional (4-1) will take on Naugatuck in a Naugatuck Valley - Copper game.
