Basketball Recap: Lake Mead Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Lake Mead Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were dealt a 67-33 defeat at the hands of the Silver Valley Trojans. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Eagles came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 99th in Nevada, while the Trojans are ranked 867th in California).

Caynen Abittan and Trystan Rudd certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Abittan went 6 of 15 on his way to 16 points and six rebounds, while Rudd almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 rebounds. That was a full 48.5% of Lake Mead Christian Academy's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points.

Silver Valley was led to victory by Javion Taylor and Judah Caldwell. Taylor went 6 of 12 on his way to 14 points along with five assists and five boards, while Caldwell went 8 of 10 on his way to 16 points in addition to six steals and five assists. Those 16 points gave Caldwell a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Mogan, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 12 points and five boards.

Lake Mead Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Silver Valley, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-4.

Lake Mead Christian Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 67-53 defeat against Del Sol on the 3rd. As for Silver Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, an 80-48 loss against Green Valley on the 3rd.
