Basketball Game Preview: Timpview Thunderbirds vs. Skyridge Falcons

It'll be Battle of the Birds when the Timpview Thunderbirds challenge the Skyridge Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday... Timpview will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Last Tuesday, Timpview didn't have too much trouble with Layton as they won 47-28. Given the Thunderbirds' advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while the Lancers are ranked 63rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Timpview's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Malia Latu, who went 5 of 7 on her way to 12 points and six rebounds. That's the most points Latu has posted since back in November of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Lina Ballin, who posted ten points along with six boards and six steals.

Meanwhile, Skyridge humbled Herriman with a 68-30 victory. That looming 68-30 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Falcons yet this season.

Skyridge's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Timpview, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.

Timpview took their victory against Skyridge in their previous meeting back in February of 2017 by a conclusive 52-32. In that match, Timpview amassed a halftime lead of 33-13, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
