Baseball Recap: Rains Wildcats vs. Mount Vernon Tigers
Rains had lost five straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 1-9 to make it six. They lost 10-3 to the Mount Vernon Tigers. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.
Rains saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hunter Chandler, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
As for Mount Vernon, their victory bumped their record up to 11-8-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by seven runs or more this season.
On Mount Vernon's side, Brycen Fountain was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That double was Fountain's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Wesley Salinas, who earned one RBI, two runs, and three stolen bases.
While Rains had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
