Volleyball Game Preview: Mt. Vernon Yellowjackets vs. Licking Heights Hornets

Mt. Vernon is on a three-game streak of home losses, and Licking Heights a four-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Tuesday. The Mt. Vernon Yellowjackets will be playing at home against the Licking Heights Hornets at 7:00 p.m. Mt. Vernon will be strutting in after a victory while Licking Heights will be coming in after a loss.

Mt. Vernon had lost six straight headed into Thursday's contest, but Audrey Stuller didn't let it get to seven. The Yellowjackets blew past Zanesville 3-0 on Thursday with plenty of help from Stuller, who had 19 digs and five aces. She has been hot, having posted 19 or more digs the last five times she's played.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Mt. Vernon took every set by at least ten points. The match finished with set scores of 25-11, 25-15, 25-5.

Licking Heights had taken Licking Valley down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Thursday. The Hornets fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 3-2.

Licking Heights actually scored more points across those five sets (104-102), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 25-20, 20-25, 25-21, 17-25, 15-13.

Mt. Vernon's win bumped their record up to 5-13. As for Licking Heights, they now have a losing record of 9-10.
