Baseball Game Preview: Leake Academy Rebels vs. Simpson Academy Cougars

For the second straight game, Leake Academy will face off against Simpson Academy. Leake Academy will square off against Simpson Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

Things were looking good for Leake Academy after they put the first points on the board on Thursday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Simpson Academy. The Rebels have struggled against the Cougars recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

For Simpson Academy's part, Chase Adcock was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. Those five RBI gave Adcock a new career-high. Gage Smith was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Adcock wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Simpson Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for Simpson Academy: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 10.2.

Simpson Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. Leake Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-3.
