Recap: El Capitan Vaqueros vs. Diamond Bar Brahmas
The El Capitan Vaqueros's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a 49-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Diamond Bar. While losing is never fun, El Capitan can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 380th, while Diamond Bar is ranked 135th).
Despite the loss, El Capitan still got an impressive performance from Lilly Williams, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 17 rebounds. Those 17 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Emily Sample was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
El Capitan's defeat dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Diamond Bar, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season.
