Softball Recap: Litchfield's Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

While Litchfield's win against Glencoe-Silver Lake wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Dragons skirted past the Panthers 6-5. The victory was familiar territory for the Dragons, who have now won three contests in a row.

Claire Holmgren made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Stella Braaten, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Autum Theil also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Litchfield's win bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Glencoe-Silver Lake, they dropped their record down to 1-6 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Litchfield will welcome Paynesville at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Glencoe-Silver Lake, they will host Annandale at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers will need to watch out since the Cardinals have now posted at least ten runs in their last four games.
