Preview: R.J. Reynolds Demons vs. Northwest Guilford Vikings
R.J. Reynolds has enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Northwest Guilford Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. R.J. Reynolds has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 351 points over their last five contests.
R.J. Reynolds pushed their score all the way to 64 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 85-64 walloping at the hands of Walkertown. The loss was R.J. Reynolds' first of the season.
Antoine Jones Jr. put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 29 points. The match was his fifth in a row with at least ten points. Jamison Johnson was another key contributor, scoring 7 points.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Northwest Guilford beat Durham School of the Arts 55-49 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Northwest Guilford.
R.J. Reynolds' defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 4-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.0 points per game. As for Northwest Guilford, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.
R.J. Reynolds was able to grind out a solid win over Northwest Guilford in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, winning 66-57. The rematch might be a little tougher for R.J. Reynolds since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
