Football Recap: Kahuku Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Mater Dei + How To Watch

Kahuku is ranked highly in their home state and on Friday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Mater Dei. The Red Raiders fell just short of the Monarchs by a score of 21-18. The Red Raiders lost against the Monarchs in their previous head to head back in September of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 38-7 score last time.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Justin Lewis and Malachi Roby. Lewis rushed for 95 yards on only ten carries while Roby rushed for 57 yards and one score on only six carries.

Kahuku's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 2-3. As for Mater Dei, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.

Coming up, Kahuku will take on Kapolei at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Red Raiders will need to watch out since the Hurricanes have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for Mater Dei, they will challenge Centennial at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
