Softball Game Preview: Mountain Pointe Pride vs. Williams Field Black Hawks

The Mountain Pointe Pride will be taking part in a tournament against the Williams Field Black Hawks at 2:15 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Mountain Pointe will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Thursday, then bounced right back against Mesquite on Thursday. Mountain Pointe blew past Mesquite 10-2.

Samallia Perez made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. Perez was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Mountain Pointe got a big performance out of Leilani Chavez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. JoJo Castillo was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Mountain Pointe was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.

Meanwhile, Williams Field put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Mesquite 5-3.

Jyllian Skoda was excellent, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

Mountain Pointe now has a winning record of 1-0-1. As for Williams Field, their record is now 3-0.

Mountain Pointe couldn't quite finish off Williams Field in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 7-5. Can Mountain Pointe avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
