Volleyball Recap: Shamya Johnson Key Part of Team Effort in Kingfishers Win

IC Imagine hadn't done well against Bethel Christian Academy recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Kingfishers put the hurt on the Crusaders with a sharp 3-0 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 back in August.

IC Imagine's got stronger as the match went on, holding Bethel Christian Academy to fewer and fewer points set over set. The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-9, 25-8.

IC Imagine's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shamya Johnson, who had seven aces. That's the most aces Johnson has posted since back in September of 2024. Narges Assadi was another key player, getting five aces and two assists.

They weren't the only good server: IC Imagine was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 25 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 16 consecutive games dating back to last season.

IC Imagine is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Bethel Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. IC Imagine will take on Temple Baptist at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Bethel Christian Academy, they will head out to square off against Legacy Athletics at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
