Basketball Game Preview: Palm Desert Aztecs vs. Royal Highlanders

The Palm Desert Aztecs will square off against the Royal Highlanders at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Palm Desert knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Royal likes a good challenge.

Palm Desert saw some tournament action on Tuesday. They walked away with a 62-49 win over Upland.

Palm Desert's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jake Brande, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 11 boards. Another player making a difference was Paul Dreisbach, who posted 14 points along with five assists and three steals.

Meanwhile, Royal was just a bucket shy of victory on Saturday and fell 56-55 to San Dimas. The loss put an end to the Highlanders' undefeated start to the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Royal fell to 2-1. As for Palm Desert, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.

Palm Desert came up short against Royal when the teams last played back in December of 2017, falling 39-32. Can the Aztecs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
