Basketball Game Preview: Greensburg Pirates vs. Connersville Spartans

The Greensburg Pirates will square off against the Connersville Spartans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Greensburg will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Last Saturday, Greensburg took their contest with ease, bagging a 63-36 victory over Jac-Cen-Del. That looming 63-36 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Pirates yet this season.

Greensburg found their leader in sophomore Jacoby Miller, who went 8-for-14 on his way to 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Miller has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jack Mckinsey, who posted six points along with 11 boards and three steals.

Greensburg smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Connersville, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They secured a 41-35 W over East Central on Thursday.

Greensburg's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-8. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to offensive rebounds: they averaged an imposing 12.33 offensive boards in those games compared to only 12.33 in the others. As for Connersville, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-11.

Greensburg didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Connersville when the teams last played back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 49-45 win.
