Basketball Recap: Discovery Piles Up the Points Against Lake Region

Discovery was handed a heart-breaking three-point loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Lake Region on Friday. The Discovery Spartans claimed a resounding 66-27 win over the Lake Region Thunder. The Spartans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 30 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Discovery to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kaiden Zenkner, who went 5 for 6 on his way to 10 points and seven rebounds. Isaac Redding was another key player, going 7 of 9 on his way to 14 points and three steals.

Discovery was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Discovery's victory bumped their record up to 12-4. As for Lake Region, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-13.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Discovery will square off against Davenport at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Discovery's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven contests. As for Lake Region, they will take on George Jenkins at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. George Jenkins will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Lake Region surely won't give up without a fight.
