Preview: Arapahoe Warriors vs. Columbine Rebels
After five games on the road, Arapahoe is heading back home. The Arapahoe Warriors and the Columbine Rebels will face off at 7:00 p.m. on December 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Arapahoe will be strutting in after a victory while Columbine will be coming in after a loss.
On Saturday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Arapahoe beat Grandview 42-38.
Among those leading the charge was Joshua Acker, who scored 14 points along with five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Rifky Sedhom, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Columbine, who are still winless after their seventh matchup. They took a hard 66-49 fall against Legend on Saturday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Columbine has scored all season.
Despite the defeat, Columbine saw an underclassman step up: Cash Boykin scored 22 points along with nine rebounds. Boykin scored a full 44.9% of Columbine's points, the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Arapahoe's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Columbine, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.
Tuesday's match is shaping up to be a scrappy game: Arapahoe have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 16.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Columbine struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 30.3 rebounds per game. Given Arapahoe's sizeable advantage in that area, Columbine will need to find a way to close that gap.
